Dear Chris,
I am writing to share with you a competition I took part in last week. The theme of this competition was to design a special logo for the school club that we were in.
You know I joined in a psychology club last year, so the logo I designed was cupped hands and a red heart on top of it. It means that if we can communicate with our classmates who are in trouble heart to heart and offer a helping hand to them, they will be able to go out of darkness and enjoy colorful school life.
Although it took me a whole week to work out the design of the logo, I think it meaningful for me to take part in this competition. It was through this activity that I had a better understanding of our club.

As you know, I became a member of the psychology club last year. The logo I designed, which consisted of cupped hands with a red heart on top, is quite symbolic. It implies that if we communicate sincerely with our classmates in trouble and extend a helping hand to them, they'll be able to emerge from the shadows and embrace a colorful school life.
Even though it consumed an entire week for me to figure out the logo design, I consider it highly rewarding to have participated in this competition. It was precisely through this activity that I gained a deeper insight into our club.

The boys in the block were going to have a roller-skating(滑早冰)race next Saturday. They were divided into two teams; the Sunnysiders and the Shadysiders, with five boys on each team. Andy was on the Sunnysiders. They lost last year, so they were desperate to win this time. But Andy knew his short legs made it hard for him to skate fast.
One day, Andy was greeted by a pleasant “Hello” as he was putting on his roller-skates. He looked up and saw his new neighbor, Francis. “Hello!” he replied cheerfully, noticing his neighbor's long legs. “Wanna skate with me? Look at your long legs! Just the right kind to make you a good skater.” “I’d love to. You know, I'm really good at roller skating and I used to help my team win.” Francis said, his tone now heavy with sadness. “But I lost my roller skates and my mom just cannot afford to buy me another pair.”
Andy thought it was a shame for Francis. As a new comer, there were undoubtedly many moments when he must have felt lonely. Andy thought to himself, wondering what he could do for Francis. But he had to say goodbye in a hurry since the team were meeting in the open space on the corner to talk over some plans.
When talking to the team captain, Andy suggested adding another boy to their team, Francis. But the captain said “No” as the team knew nothing about him. Besides, the Shadysiders wouldn’t let them take on an extra player.
In the following days, Andy practiced very bard with his team. Then came the day before the race when he saw Francis on the sidewalk, watching them skate past, his eyes filled with a sense of loss. Somehow it upset Andy, and his desire to help his new neighbor resurfaced. Then he thought of a way that could not only help his team win, but help Francis fit in.

Do you want to skate with my team?” A trace of strong eagerness could be noticed in Andy's voice. “ If I join your team, I will be an extra player...” Francis replied in heavy tone, gazing at Andy with a mix of confusion and frustration in his eyes.
“My short legs made it hard for me to skate fast. It would be a good idear if you can stand for me to join the race!” Andy shrugged and firmly suggested .
The next day, the race began as scheduled. At first, some members were skeptical, but seeing Andy's determination and Francis's eagerness, they agreed to give it a try. During the race, Francis skated like the wind, surprising everyone present. Andy, on the sidelines, cheered as loudly as he could, with his heart filled with pride for his friend. As Francis crossed the finish line first, the Sunnysiders erupted in joy. They surrounded Francis, patting him on the back and congratulating him. Andy was overjoyed, knowing his plan had worked perfectly. They had not only achieved victory but also welcomed a new friend into their team.
