晚上好
It is indeed a privilege to be here with you in this opening ceremony of 20th China International Freight Forwarding Alliance Expo 2025 in Ningbo. I thank the organizers (China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and shippingchina.com) for giving me opportunity speak a few words.
As this occasion brought us here together with many of the leaders of the logistics sector, I take the privilege to portray Bangladesh as one of the most prospective destinations for investors, who are looking for new frontiers of logistics sector development.
Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, experienced a steady growth of 6–7% over the last 15 years and projected to become the 26th largest economy in a decade! Its logistics industry is expanding steadily, driven by strong export-import growth and infrastructure investments. Freight and logistics services account for a significant share of the national economy, supporting nearly every sector—from manufacturing and agriculture to e-commerce. But this hardly depicts the underlying prospect of logistics industry in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is strategically located between South Asia and Southeast Asia and Its position makes it a gateway between South Asia and ASEAN, aligning with the BCIM Corridor and China’s Maritime Silk Road vision. This geographically advantageous position particularly location of its major sea ports and deep-sea ports made it a natural hub in the greater region.

Expanded capacity of Chittagong port, construction of two deep sea-ports in Matarbari and Payra, modernization of Mongla port with completion of Padma Bridge and Karnafuli tunnel and many Expressways connecting north to south and east to west domestically, and adequate rail and road connectivity with India and presence of similar infrastructure to be connected with Myanmar, Bangladesh is set to witness an era of seamless road, rail, and port connectivity—cutting travel times, reducing congestion and enabling faster cargo flow and ultimately reducing logistics costs by up to 35%. The rise of e-commerce and f-commerce (social media-based businesses) is creating huge demand for urban and regional logistics solutions. E-commerce turnover reaching to nearly a billion USD, with local companies like Pathao, E-Courier, and Paperfly leading logistics innovation. Warehouse demand is estimated to increase by 50 million square feet by this year, especially near ports and airports. Yet, bonded warehouse access remains limited mainly to the RMG (Ready-Made Garments) sector—leaving great potential for diversification.
At present the logistics costs is Bangladesh is 15–25% of product value —signaling large efficiency and profit potential for professional logistics operators. And the government has set a target to make logistics a “thrust sector” under the Perspective Plan 2041 and Logistics Policy 2023. Besides, Bangladesh government’s PPP framework and favorable FDI policies makes it an ideal investment destination for Chinese logistics and freight enterprises aiming to expand in South Asia. Cheap land, labor and energy cost in Bangladesh makes it further attractive.

In this backdrop, by combining strategic geography, policy reform and foreign investment, and by taking advantage of demographic divident, Bangladesh aims to build new logistics infrastructure with reduced logistics costs, higher quality and competitiveness, and become a South Asian logistics hub by the early 2030s. in this backdrop, Chinese and Bangladeshi collaboration can drive mutual benefits — boosting regional trade efficiency, supply chain resilience and industrial growth across the Belt and Road region.
Over the last 50 years, Bangladesh-China relations has consolidated to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. China is now Bangladesh’s biggest trading and development partner. Bangladesh is also a major partner of China under BRI, pledging USD 40 billion in infrastructure financing, including USD 26 billion for logistics and connectivity projects. In this favourable situation, Chinese investors can partner Bangladesh in port modernization, building inland terminals and Feeder shipping & coastal transport, special economic zones (SEZs), Invest in logistics technology, smart warehousing, and cold chain management, support training and digital platforms for freight management and data analytics and participate in developing multimodal logistics hubs connecting China–Bangladesh–India–Myanmar.
I invite you all to explore the potential.
I wish the conference a great success.
Thank you all.
