Eric Zetterquist
Flower pot stand with carved floral design, joseon period 1392-1910 A.D., Korea埃里克·扎特奎斯特 Eric Zetterquist收藏级颜料打印 Inkjet print on archival paper
Anupam Diwan, born in 1993 in Chhattisgarh, a state in central India, he is fond for exploring the relationship between nature and the earth. At the same time, he rethinks the parallel conception of family, memory and personal experience. Educated in Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka (Bangladesh), he has hold exhibitions in Singapore, India, China, Cambodia. In 2020, he was nominated for World Press Photo Foundation’s prestigious Joop Swart Mastercalss.
The environment in homeland has influenced Anupam, where he has always been seeking for familiar stuff in chaos and has Involved in dissolving the geographic boundaries that divides life culture. His work presents the timidity and vanity of the poet, revealing his thought and discovery for light and shadow, present and past, reality and fiction, and tenderness and compassion for capricious signs of life. Here, fragmented memory are dark yet colorful, making us think about the past and truly feel the present.

Eric Zetterquist (1962- ) studied contemporary photographic expression and oriental antique art while working for Japanese modern artist Hiroshi Sugimoto (1948- ) for 10 years until 1992. Today he is based in New York. “Object Portraits”, mainly portraits of antique ceramics, is a series of highly sophisticated, abstract expressions of the details of antique ceramics. Zetterquist describes this series as an “East-Meets-West and Old-Meets-New” project, and mentions that he was inspired by hard-edge artworks and Song ceramics. In fact, some of his works suggest influence of Song landscape paintings while other works are reminiscent of modernist composition as exemplified in Alexander Calder (1898-1976) ’s works.
In 1992, he established Zetterquist Galleries in New York, specialising in Chinese art and ceramics. Zetterquist's photographs have been exhibited in The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka (2018), Southeast Asian Ceramics Museum in Bangkok (2016), Philadelphia Museum of Art (2014) and so on, and his book Object Portraits was published by Nazraeli Press in 2018.
