A篇

根据Discounts from many attractions部分中的“The Card has over 200 sights and attractions as discount partners with savings up to 50%. ( 该卡拥有超过200个景点作为折扣合作伙伴,节省高达50% 。)”可知,Berlin Welcome Card是一张便宜的票。故选C。

第22题 B 细节理解题。根据Free city guidebook部分中的“It comes with a useful guide, a removable map of the city and its main public transport routes. The guide also includes suggested tours and helpful tips as you make your way across the city.(它提供了一个有用的指南,一个可移动的城市地图和它的主要公共交通路线。该指南还包括建议的旅游和有用的提示,因为你使你的方式穿过城市。)”可知,持卡人可以享受的好处是:一张地图和一本旅游指南,以及一些有用的提示。故选B。

第23题 D 细节理解题。根据Free public transport部分中的“Section C is the area around Berlin, including the town of Potsdam, the Sachsenhausen Memorial Site and Berlin’s BER Airport.(C区是柏林周边地区,包括Potsdam、 Sachsenhausen Memorial Site 和柏林的柏林机场。)”

根据第一段“I was the only kid in college with a reason to go to the mail box, because my mother never believed in email, in Facebook, in texting or cell phones. I was literally waiting by the mailbox to get a letter with a warmest comfort from her.(我是大学里唯一一个有理由去邮箱的孩子,因为我母亲从来不相信电子邮件、Facebook、短信或手机。我真的是在信箱旁等着收到一封她给我最温暖的安慰的信。)”和第二段第一句“So when I moved to New York and got depressed, I did the only thing I could think of.(所以当我搬到纽约感到沮丧时,我做了我唯一能想到的事。)”

根据第三段“Overnight, my inbox became this harbor of heartbreak—a single mother in Sacramento, a girl being bullied in Kansas, a 22-year-old immigrant, all asking me to write them and give them a reason to wait by the mailbox. And this is how I initiated the act The World Needs More Love Letters.(一夜之间,我的收件箱变成了心碎的港湾——萨克拉门托的单身母亲,堪萨斯州一个被欺负的女孩,一个22岁的移民,他们都要求我给他们写信,给他们一个在邮箱旁等待的理由。这就是我发起“世界需要更多爱的信件”行动的原因。)”可知,作者发起这项行动是为了通过写信给予情感上的支持。故选D。

第26题 C 推理判断题。根据第五段的“So I get to tell total strangers about a woman whose husband was traumatized (受精神创伤) from war, and how she left love letters throughout the house saying, “Come back to me.”(于是我开始给陌生人讲述一个女人的故事,她的丈夫在战争中受到了创伤,她如何在家里到处留下爱的信件,说:“回到我身边来。”)”

根据最后一段“These stories convince me that letter-writing will never need to be about efficiency, because it is an art now, all of it: the signing, the scripting, the mailing.(这些故事让我坚信,写信从来都不需要追求效率,因为它现在已然成为了一种艺术,从签名到书写,再到寄出,每一环节都是。)”

根据第一段中“Latest genetic analysis of Ludwig van Beethoven’s hair has revealed that the composer had a high genetic risk for liver (肝) disease, which could have contributed to his death.(对Ludwig van Beethoven头发的最新基因分析显示,这位作曲家患肝脏疾病的遗传风险很高,这可能是导致他死亡的原因之一。)”

根据第二段中“To make sure the hair actually came from Beethoven, researchers first examined the paperwork for each lock and used DNA analysis to determine the age of the samples...Then they compared the DNA of the eight locks. The combination of these methods led them to conclude that five of them were from Beethoven.(为了确保这些头发确实来自贝多芬,研究人员首先检查了每一缕头发的文件,并使用 DNA 分析来确定样本的年龄……然后他们比对了八缕头发的DNA。这些方法的结合使他们得出结论,其中有五个来自贝多芬。)”可知,研究人员通过分析和比较遗传数据来确保头发是来自贝多芬的,故选C。

第30题 A 词句猜测题。根据画线单词所在句子“Begg says this risk would be relatively benign for most people, but Beethoven’s reportedly high alcohol consumption would have increased the likelihood that he developed the condition. (贝格说,对大多数人来说,这种风险相对benign,但据报道,贝多芬的高酒精摄入量会增加他患上这种疾病的可能性。)”可知,but前后是转折关系,对大多数人来说,这种风险是无害的,但对于贝多芬来说,会增加他患上这种疾病的可能性,由此可推知,划线单词benign意为“无害的”,故选A。

第31题 C 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Previous analysis of Beethoven’s hair samples suggested he had lead poisoning, but this study reveals that the earlier work was done on hair from a woman.(先前对贝多芬头发样本的分析表明他患有铅中毒,但这项研究表明,早期的研究是在一位女性的头发上进行的。)”

根据文章第二段“The study, published in the journal Science, uncovers genetic mechanisms(遗传机制)behind root “hydropatterning”, or how plant roots branch toward water and avoid dry spaces in soil.(这项发表在《科学》(期刊上的研究,揭示了根系向水性分支生长背后的遗传机制——即植物根系如何向有水区域延伸、同时避开土壤中的干旱区域。)”以及第五段“Genetic analyses reveal two plant hormones, auxin and ethylene, play a role in how corn roots respond to water.(遗传分析表明,两种植物激素(生长素和乙烯)在玉米根系应对水分的过程中发挥作用。)”

根据文章第四段““Interestingly, the plants that are better at sensing where the water is are also making deeper root systems,” said lead author Johannes Scharwies, “One idea is that if the plant doesn’t waste time growing top branches into places where it doesn’t find any water and nutrients, then it has more energy to grow deeper down where water is more likely.”(“有趣的是,更擅长感知水分位置的植株,也能长出更深的根系,”研究第一作者Johannes Scharwies表示,“有一种观点认为,若植株不浪费精力在无水无养分的区域生长表层根须,就能节省更多能量,向更深处生长——那里更有可能找到水分。”)” 故选A。

根据文章第五段“Genetic analyses reveal two plant hormones, auxin and ethylene, play a role in how corn roots respond to water. While auxin was already known to help control this process, ethylene’s involvement was a new discovery. In experiments with thale cress — a model plant often used in research — the researchers found auxin signaling promotes root branch development toward water, while ethylene stops branching when the root is exposed to air.()”可知,本段主要围绕“两种植物激素(生长素和乙烯)在玉米根系应对水分过程中的作用”展开,明确生长素促进根系向水分支、乙烯抑制根系暴露于空气时的分支,并通过拟南芥实验验证这一发现,整体聚焦激素对根系生长的作用。

根据文章最后一段“Further research is needed to better understand the interaction of these genetic pathways before corn varieties can be developed with more drought-resistant root systems, but the findings highlight the significance of studying these localized responses at root tips, researchers said.(研究人员表示,要培育出具有更强抗旱根系的玉米品种,还需进一步研究以更好地理解这些遗传通路的相互作用,但该研究结果凸显了研究根尖局部响应的重要性。)” 故选A。

 15-Minute Cooking Challenge

Last week, our school held the “15-Minute Cooking Challenge”, where students showcased quick yet delicious dishes.

The event kicked off with a live cooking demonstration by a chef, who shared professional tips on perfect seasoning. Then teams dashed around the kitchen, gathering materials, frying eggs, and stir-frying vegetables—all while racing against the clock. Throughout the event, I was amazed by my classmates’ creativity—some enhanced simple dishes with unique sauces, while others turned their plates into edible art. It hit me then that cooking is equal parts skill and imagination.

The event not only highlighted the joy of hands-on work but also promoted teamwork and sparked creativity. Hopefully, our school will keep offering these hands-on activities—they perfectly blend learning with real-world fun!

“Maybe there’s a way to do both,” Anthony thought.  “What if we all work together quickly to finish by noon?” he suggested. “That way, the house will be ready, and I can still go to Field Day.” His parents nodded in agreement, and Anthony laughed with relief. He checked the chore list and decided to stay home with his dad and sister to complete the jobs. While the children talked about how to divide the chores, their mom took the grocery list and walked toward the door. After finalizing their plan, Anthony suggested finishing the tasks before his mom returned.

Everyone went right to work.  Anthony and Kate made the beds while their dad vacuumed the carpet. Afterward, Kate helped their dad clean the bathroom as Anthony swept the kitchen floor. Anthony’s mom arrived at the door with her arms full of bags just as everyone in the house was finishing. “Great Timing!” Anthony shouted. “I have thirty minutes before Field Day begins!” He grabbed his backpack, gave his family a quick wave, and dashed out the door, eager to join Caleb and make the most of Field Day.
